Faceblind
Drawing — Face by Nara Malone
She lived in a faceless world,
unable to discern the beautiful from the ugly, family from strangers, her own face in a photo.
A scientific breakthrough rebooted her visual processor, revealing faces in intricate and unique planes, angles, shadows.
Still she wondered, how is it that every face isn’t thought beautiful, a living artwork.

Thanks everyone for stopping by. Faceblindness is an unusual and not well publicized condition. A faceblind person can see fine, but the ability to tell faces apart is impaired, much the same as a colorblind person may have difficulty distinguishing between colors. Since the condition is often congenital and there are other — less efficient — ways to tell people apart, many with the condition don't realize they have it. If your curious about your own facial recognition skills, there's a fun and free test at: http://www.testmybrain.org/
There are several different tests you might find fun. I found the famous faces test to be enlightening and it's pretty quick to get through.
