Rock Me
Rock me outta here
Rock me from crazy to sane
Put me in a summer night
watching fireflies play tag
while moonbeams wash the willow’s hair
Rock me outta here
Rock me from kettle drums to kettle on the stove
Put me in the mountains
where summer nights are sweater nights
where the wind chime’s notes knit a sweater for my soul
Rock me outta reality
Rock me from crazy to sane
Rock me home

I really like the repetition in your poem, Nara. I think we all could use a bit of rocking from crazy to sane sometime. Smiles!

the wind chimes knitting a sweater for the soul…nice…peaceful and comforting…
of course i am singing wagonwheel right now….
Margaret
…she had to look up Billy Squire's song! I either feel really old or really young 😛
"while moonbeams wash the willow's hair" … is totally brilliant!

I had to look up Wagonwheel too. But nice! Really enjoying all the tunes.

Echoing Margaret on Billy Squire…sigh. In the Dark is a fave, and it has that same rocking beat that also carries great sadness underneath–crazy is very wearing, a heaviness on the back, and rocking the hell away from it definitely works for me. My favorite line in this is "…moonbeams wash the willow's hair…" that is just pure music.

I love the line, "rock me crazy to sane." And to be where summer nights are sweater nights. We have our fair share of those. But, alas, summer has flown on a mean north wind. Much to like here.

I really enjoyed your poem Nara! Interesting rhythm and imagery. I like the stanza about mountain nights.
Alice Audrey
I like the sense of progression in the sweater lines
Grandmother (Mary)
While moonbeams wash the willow's hair is a lovely line.

This totally rocked! I,too, love your moonbeam and willow line.
Dorianna (paintswithwords)
Like the rhythm to this poem, the sort of dizzying call to insanity and back to sanity to start again. I like your writing sytle
